Argumentative Essay About Transgender - 2019 Words

The experience of growing up LGBTQ+ alone is one of difficulty in much of western society; however, this becomes even more so when a person is transgender. This stems from many origins. It is, of course, possibly the most argued that being transgender is a choice. People argue that if someone can change their sex, they should be able to change their race or age. Many people say this out of jest, but some say it in seriousness, not understanding what people who are transgender are truly experiencing. None of us ever will if we ourselves are not transgender. In the film Growing Up Trans, we see parents who vary in their levels of support for their children. For many parents, especially those who hold their religious faith close to†¦show more content†¦Traditionally speaking, most people view sex and gender as interchangeable, synonymous, and biological. As more studies and research are done, more professionals are realizing the vital difference between the two terms. Sex, acco rding to sociologist Doctor Zuleyka Zevallos, is the â€Å"biological traits that societies use to assign people into the category of either male or female, whether it be through a focus on chromosomes, genitalia, or some other physical ascription†. She goes on to say that the definition of gender is â€Å"the cultural meanings attached to men and women’s roles; and how individuals understand their identities including, but not limited to, being a man, woman, transgender, intersex, gender queer, and other gender identities† (Zeyallos, 2014). We see sex as something we are assigned at birth due to the body parts we are born with, and we see gender as the way one identifies with their assigned sex. In the majority of cases, assigned sex and gender identity line up, but less often it does not. In these cases, we see individuals who are transgender, gender queer, gender fluid, and more. More people are coming forward about these different ways they are experiencing gender, so many people assume these ways of experiencing gender are new. People have been transgender and gender nonconforming for longer than many may realize. Over the last couple of years, the world has become increasingly globalized. After the cold war, all parts of the world were attracted to the process of globalization. The effect of globalization is uneven in different parts of the world and globalization suggests a world full of persistent cultural interaction and exchange, contacts and connection, mixture and movement. Different people view globalization in different ways. Some people feel it has done more good than harm, while others believe it has done more harm than good. The Effects Of Texting On The Social Communication

Today, technology is transforming and evolving rapidly; at times it feels as if a new smartphone is being released every day. With these new technologies, we see both positive and negative effects influencing people of all ages. One of the major concerns about cell phone use is the impact texting has on the social communication of the world’s youths. In a quest to uncover the effects of texting, I will discuss to what degree texting is detrimental to the social communication between people in our society from my perspective, the positive aspects that are associated with the invention and evolution of texting, the negative consequences with regard to the social development of young people, whether I agree or disagree with John McWhorter’s perspective on texting, and whether or not texting is making people more intelligent. As a child, I remember texting friends daily, continuously from the time I awoke in the morning, till the time I went to bed. Personally, I am th e type of person that even when I am texting I still utilize punctuation, and would much rather completely spell a word than use an abbreviation. However, as a nineteen year old, I find that I would much rather hold a conversation face-to-face, than through text message. In my honest opinion, I believe that texting can be beneficial when use appropriately. By appropriately, I’m referring to keeping in touch with those who you do not see often or family and friends who live out of state. The History Of Video Games - 1529 Words

The History of Video Games Some people may not know this, but there was a time when video games were not around. Like a lot of things in the world that are distinctly human, video games were made out of a combination of innovation, necessity, and curiosity. The early video game creators would be making something that would seem clunky, and somewhat crude at first. But that would completely change in time by the innovators, and entrepreneurs to something that would some day be consider an art form. There are also ratings that fit in-between. eC for early childhood, E for everyone 10+, and Adults only 18+ (which is made from excessive nudity, or just unsuitable for people under the age of 18). Now do parents really control what their kids play? 73% of parents believe that the parental controls available in all new video game consoles are useful. Also parents control time usage on video games more than any other entertainment industry out there. 94% of the time, parents are present at the time games are purchased or rented, and 88% of the time parents report always, or sometimes monitoring the games their children play. We will write a custom essay sample on Killing Animals for Food or any similar topic only for you Order Now In the wild, they must protect themselves, but when up against human beings, they do not have the power that we do, and often lose their homes or get killed without any other choice for survival. We should treat animals, as we would want to be treated. Animals cannot have the same rights as humans. They cannot enter our society or make moral choices. They do not know right from wrong, as we do. Killing animals for food is something we have practiced for many of years to survive. Many people like this is a part of our survival, just as animals do. There are several areas where there has been a lack of natural predators, to control the animal population, causing safety concerns by hunting. Many hunters feel they can control the ecosystem by hunting. Once hunters obtain a permit, there is no cost, they can hunt for food, or enjoy it as a sport without paying any money. However, humans are just another species of animals and should share the right of freedom. Animals are defenseless and we control them. Even if animals are being hunted or used in slaughter homes, they should be able to live a natural life during their limited lifetime. Animals do not volunteer to tests that can be done using alternative methods. Using an alternative method will also speed up the process, allowing drugs to be approved faster, as well as using fewer animals. Animals should be treated with love and compassion. Many people get pets for their children or maybe it just sounds like a good idea at the time. Animals that people receive for free are more likely to get abandoned because the people thinking they have nothing to lose. When you bring an animal home, you are bringing home a life, a living creature. This is a big commitment that you should be willing to make. Animals require just as much love and attention as children do. When people leave their pets outside, this is unfair when people keep them locked up on chains outside, they cannot go and find a warm place to sleep when it is cold, or a safe place to stay, they cannot use their natural instincts when we restrict them. Animals are just like humans experiencing the same pain and emotions. They rely on us for the comfort and safety. We should not harm animals. They should have the right to freedom, just as we do. Animals should not be used in testing. They should not be hunted, and should be treated with love. How to cite Killing Animals for Food, Papers

The Future of Nursing and School Nursing

Question: How will increasing your level of education affect how you compete in the current job market? How will increasing your level of education affect your role in the future of nursing? Answer: Healthcare The Institute of Medicine (IOM) released their landmark report in 2010, which is known as The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. The landmark report addresses the key roles of the nurses in the context of rapidly changing health care landscape. There are approximately 3 million registered nurses in the U.S, who work day and night in different medical settings, such as public health centers, hospitals, homes as well as in schools (Cowell, 2012). There are many recommendations provided in the report presented by the IOM in order to establish a better nursing management. The recommendation 4 emphasizes, Increase the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by 2020. This seemed to be beneficial since the government is giving stress to increase the number of registered and trained nurse in the health care system. The government targeted to increase the number of trained nurses up to 80% by 2020 (Hassmiller Goodman, 2011). This is helpful for the new generation of younger people who are thinking to select nursing profession as their career. It is an opportunity for the new generation nurses to get more options in their working field. In recommendation 5, the IOM stated, double the number of nurses with a doctorate by 2020. This recommendation can be considered an opportunity in order to enhance the qualification of the present nurses who do not posses doctorate (Wilson et al., 2012). The doctorate is important for the nurses who do not have proper qualification for their job. Proper implementation of this recommendation is helpful to increase the professional degree of the nurses as well as increasing the level of quality care. The Recommendation 6 stated, Ensure that nurses engage in lifelong learning. This is a very important and crucial recommendation, which have a direct impact on the nursing profession. The nursing profession is a vast field, and the nurses need to have a vast knowledge to take care of different types of patients (Woods, 2013). From the aspect of a student of nursing graduation, it is important to increase the qualification to get more opportunities in the nursing field. The nursing field now offers a better opportunity to the new nurses as the government of the U.S. targets to increase the number of nurses with baccalaureate degree up to 80%. Therefore, the young nurses have an opportunity to grab the offer provided by the government in order to increase the qualification. The increasing level of education may have a direct effect on the nurse's role in the context of future nursing. The increasing level of education, in turn, will be helpful to enrich nursing knowledge. With a vast field of nursing knowledge, it will be helpful to provide best quality care to different types of patients. References Cowell, J. M. (2012).
